Privacy policy

Effective date: 5 May 2026

This site, davidbaidooanu.com, is the personal academic website of Dr. David Baidoo-Anu, Assistant Professor of Assessment and Evaluation in the Mitch and Leslie Frazer Faculty of Education at Ontario Tech University. It is operated by Dr. Baidoo-Anu as an individual, from Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what limited personal information the site collects, how it is used, and the rights you have under Canadian privacy law.

Who is the data controller

Dr. David Baidoo-Anu is responsible for personal information collected through this site. For privacy-related requests, contact david.baidooanu@ontariotechu.ca.

Information collected

This is a content-led academic website. The information actually collected is limited:

  • Newsletter email address — only if you choose to subscribe to the newsletter. Stored to deliver future issues and to allow you to unsubscribe.
  • Booking and consulting enquiries — the booking page directs enquiries to email (mailto). When you email me directly, your message and email address are stored in my mailbox until the conversation is no longer needed.
  • Standard server logs — your IP address, user agent, and the page requested are recorded by the web server for security and abuse prevention. Logs are retained for a short operational window and then rotated.
  • Analytics — if you grant analytics consent, Google Analytics 4 (GA4) records pseudonymous interaction data (pages viewed, approximate location, device category). IP anonymisation is enabled. See the cookie policy for the specific cookies set.

No payment data is processed by this site. There are no client accounts, no profiles, and no behavioural tracking beyond the consented analytics described above.

Cookie banner and Google Consent Mode v2

The cookie banner offers three categories: necessary, analytics, and marketing. Until you make a choice, all non-essential storage is denied by default through Google Consent Mode v2. Marketing cookies are not currently set by this site even with consent — the category exists for future-proofing only. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time on the cookie policy page.

How information is used

  • To respond to enquiries you send me.
  • To send the newsletter you subscribed to, and to honour unsubscribe requests.
  • To understand, in aggregate, which research and writing readers find useful.
  • To keep the site secure and operational.

Personal information is not sold, rented, or used for advertising profiling.

Service providers

The site is hosted on managed infrastructure, transactional email is delivered through a standard email provider, and analytics (when consented) are processed by Google. These providers act as processors and are bound by their own privacy terms. Some processing, notably Google Analytics, may involve transfer of data to the United States; by giving analytics consent you acknowledge this transfer.

Your rights under PIPEDA

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) you have the right to:

  • access the personal information held about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • withdraw consent (including unsubscribing from the newsletter at any time);
  • request deletion of your information, where retention is no longer required.

Email david.baidooanu@ontariotechu.ca to exercise any of these rights. If you are not satisfied with the response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

CASL and the newsletter

The newsletter is sent only to addresses that have opted in. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link, in compliance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Unsubscribing is honoured immediately and is processed without confirmation requirements.

Retention

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Email correspondence is kept for the duration of the working relationship and then archived or deleted. Server logs rotate on a short operational schedule. Analytics data follows Google's retention window of fourteen months for event data.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

Material changes to this policy will be reflected here with an updated effective date. Minor wording updates may be made without notice.
